Beijing: China wants to hit India hard after its own assessment found Dalai Lama’s recent visit to Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh was such a stupendous success. Apart from deliberately delaying Indian athlete’s visas to block their participation in Asian Grand Prix, it has gone ahead and given six complicated names to six different towns in Arunachal Pradesh.
When rest of the world including India refused to give any importance to these name changes, China has asked Google to reflect them in its maps soon. Chinese foreign ministry has told Google, if they do these ‘corrections’ soon and along with that name Arunachal Pradesh as ‘South Tibet’ then they will seriously consider about removing Google & YouTube from its list of banned websites.
As we asked Chinese foreign office spokesperson, for such a small matter is it worth to take the risk of opening Google and YouTube content to its citizens who might learn some ‘truths’ about their own country, what’s going on here. “This is not a small matter for us. Despite our multiple warnings, India went ahead in allowing Dalai Lama who is our number one enemy to visit one of our state,” said the foreign office spokesperson while showing us an old map which shows anything below Tibet as ‘South Tibet’ which is theirs.
Our China based reporter is surprised to see, though more than 24 hours have passed, none of the China based websites have done the necessary corrections to the names of Arunachal Pradesh and its towns. “Like our Government, we are also waiting for Google to the changes to the code. You will see as soon as Google changes reflect online, same code our companies will use too,” said renowned hacker Hung Shu Qii while speaking to our Chinese reporter.
More than the Indian foreign office, Indian parents whose kids are participating in different spell bee competitions are worried with such difficult sounding words for Arunachal towns. One such parent told us, “I took my son to a Chinese language teacher so that when words like Wo’gyainling, Mila Ri, Qoidengarbo Ri, Mainquka, Bumo La and Namkapub Ri are pronounced, he could catch them and spell them correctly.”
