Linux-based Tizen 4.0 Open Source Operating System Released

Short Bytes: Samsung Electronics has announced Tizen 4.0 open source operating system. The latest release of this Linux-based OS aims at spreading to more high-end as well as low-end devices. With Tizen Real Time, an extra focus has been given to IoT applications. Samsung also announced new Z4 smartphone and ARTIK 053 IoT chipset.
At the Tizen Developer Conference (TDC) 2017, Samsung Electronics unveiled Tizen 4.0 open source operating system. The Korean tech giant showed off the new version of the Linux-based operating system and said that Tizen 4.0 OS has a wider range of applications to devices.
It should be noted that Tizen 1.0 was announced at TDC 2012; since then, it has touched almost all of Samsung’s products. After bringing Tizen to smartphones, televisions, etc., Samsung is now planning to integrate Tizen 4.0 OS into more household and IoT devices. This will be done with the help of Tizen Real Time (RT).
Samsung has also entered into a collaboration with Microsoft, which allows the developers to easily develop Tizen application with popular programming languages. Specifically, C# developers can make Tizen apps using .NET and Xamarin framework.
To expand Tizen ecosystem, Samsung is strengthening the cooperation with Samsung ARTIK, Broadlink, Commax, and Gympse.
Along with Tizen 4.0 release, Samsung also launched Samsung Z4 smartphone. It comes with front and rear camera optimized for social media. The company also launched the new ARTIK 053 module, a lightweight IoT chipset.
