There hasn’t been much of a buzz for the new Surface Pro probably because Microsoft wasn’t planning on launching it on a grand scale. At a small event in Shanghai, the Redmond based company announced the next generation of the Surface tablet which is simply called the Surface Pro.
We had seen the device leak a few days back and got a fair idea that it will be more of a refresh. It looks similar to its predecessor but of course there are fine changes. The tablet offers slightly rounded edges, a revamped hinge that can almost fold flat and a new keyboard color options.
As for the internals you get the same Core m3, Core i5 and Core i7 but the latest 7th-generation. The battery life has been bumped up to 13.5 hours which sounds excellent. The Surface Pro will now also get a 4G LTE option. Microsoft has also updated the Surface Pen which now offers 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity will also support Microsoft Office.
Microsoft has yet again not put a USB Type-C port, something which is creeping into almost every new laptop and PC.
The Surface Pro has been priced at $799 (Rs 52,000 approx) with the fully packed variant going to $2,500 (Rs 1,63,000 approx). It is set to hit 27 markets on 15 June and India is not on the list.
